The Silver Leaf Jazz Band struck its first chords at The Strafford Arms, Stainborough near Barnsley on Wednesday 20th October 1993. Little did we know of the fun and adventure that would unfold over the coming years. The band moved to the Barnsley area from Sheffield a year or so after the departure of two band members. An increase to five people from the Barnsley areas made a move nearer to home the logical thing to do. Following a scouting mission and some skilful negotiation, traditional jazz came to The Strafford Arms on a Wednesday evening. The band has been fortunate to regularly be invited to play at numerous Jazz Clubs and Festivals throughout the North of England. The band has also joined forces on a number of occasions with American Jazz and Vaudeville singer Marilyn Middleton on tour. Additionally, the band has also participated in events in Germany on two occasions and continues to be a very popular choice for corporate events and private parties. Contact the band |
